Station plans military coverage

KAUT-43 is rebranding its station as Freedom TV 43 and plans to provide additional coverage of Oklahoma’s large military community, the station announced Thursday. KAUT, formerly 43 the Spot, will give special attention in its newscasts to military stories and those that appeal to the military community and viewers who share the values of that community, said Jim Boyer, president and general manager of KAUT-43 and KFOR-4. The coverage will appear on KAUT-43’s two weekday newscasts, “Rise and Shine,” co-hosted by Lance West and David Payne from 7 to 9 a.m., and “Freedom 43 News,” anchored by Bobbie Miller from 9 to 9:30 p.m. Boyer said there are hundreds of stories of interest to the military community that aren’t reported in other newscasts. Boyer said the station’s other programming will remain the same but might change as programming contracts expire. He noted “M*A*S*H” reruns will continue to air at 10:30 p.m.
