It's a long time to be in school, but Oklahoma City's LWPB Architecture has been hanging out in classrooms in Edmond and Norman for 48 years — and for retention, not detention.

Norman and Edmond public schools are among the longest-term clients for LWPB, which has been observing its 50th year in 2012.

More recently, LWPB, 5909 Northwest Expressway, Suite 600, provided architectural services for Bricktown Fire Station No. 6 at 21 N Lincoln Blvd., the first LEED-certified project by the city of Oklahoma City.

LWPB also designed Patience S. Latting Northwest Library, 5600 NW 122, which was the first branch library built by Metropolitan Library System in more than 30 years.

LEED stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, a benchmark for construction by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Wendell Locke and Bob Wright founded the firm in 1962.

Locke retired in the 1990s and died in 2007. Wright has retired but is often seen in the office and still does consulting work.
