Rees Associates Inc., a national architecture, planning and design firm based in Oklahoma City, has named Texan Allan Parr, president since 2011, as chief executive — just the second CEO since Frank W. Rees Jr. founded the firm in 1975.
Rees continues as chairman of the board. He said the board's action made Wednesday a “historic day for Rees” and its 37 years in business.
Parr lives in the Houston area. It was not immediately clear whether the change would have any effect on the firm's operations in Oklahoma City. Rees has maintained homes in both the Oklahoma City and Dallas areas for years.
Parr “has demonstrated outstanding leadership at global companies such as Compaq and Hewlett-Packard, and has a strong track record as the president and chief operating officer of Rees. Mr. Parr is well-prepared for this new role, and I believe he will be tremendously successful,” Rees said.
Parr joined the firm in 2009 as chief operating officer and director of operations for Rees' Dallas office. He is a registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects with more than 20 years of experience in operations management, project management, facilities operation, construction, design and business development.
“I could not be more excited about this opportunity,” Parr said. “Rees has a long history of delivering high quality work and building lasting relationships. We recognize that industry leadership requires focus, commitment, and constant reinvention. With this in mind, we have aligned our resources to focus on design innovation, the use of leading-edge technologies, and as always, a commitment to outstanding client service. I look forward to continuing to serve our many clients and partners with the highest degree of quality and commitment.”
