Warmer temperatures this weekend made the Devon Ice Rink at the Myriad Botanical Gardens a popular stop for families wanting to be outside and together enjoying the weather.

Dozens of children laughed through falls and tumbles as they attempted to skate across the ice, and even adults giggled as they wiped out and landed on their backsides.

“I can do it, Papa,” shouted one little girl dressed in blue snow pants as she skated and fell, got up and then spilled onto the ice again. “I like falling down.”

With ice packed in her hair and all over her clothes, she continued around the rink in the same skate-and-spill pattern.

Twin sisters Bethany and Brittan Stegmann, 9, of Edmond, came ready to skate fast and do spins on the ice. Brittan was dressed in a pink coat and earmuffs and had on black leg warmers with her own white skates. Bethany smiled with glee while she did turns on the ice as her mother snapped her picture.

“This is probably the only thing they like to do that's the same,” said their mother, Dianna Stegmann. “They're both so different.”

Dianna Stegmann said they were all impressed with the ice rink and the renovations to Myriad Gardens.
