“It's like a mini New York,” Bethany said.

Vanessa Holtzberg, assistant manger at the ice rink, said the nice weather is a draw, but people will be there to skate no matter what.

On Saturday, the line for skate rentals wrapped around the building, but still moved fast. Parents strapped on skates with their kids or stood along the clear rink walls waving at their children as they skated past.

“We have a great group of people who come out in any condition and it's great,” Holtzberg said. “There are a lot of people out there having fun and it's a blast.”

It's busier on days when kids are out of school and the weather is nicer, she said. On average, about 2,000 people lace up skates and step on to the ice every day.

Even when it's cold and blustery, brave skaters are making it out.

“When you're moving you don't notice the temperature,” she said. “But that's also part of the fun of the outdoor rink is being a little bit chilly and being able to go over and have a hot chocolate to warm up.”
