Stars including Wil Wheaton and George Takei of “Star Trek” will headline this weekend's Planet Comicon in Kansas City, Mo. But the show has also become a destination for Oklahoma comic-book creators, with several scheduled to be on hand.

Among the Oklahoma contingent will be Oklahoma City writer/artist Don Rosencrans of “Welcome to Ralton.”

He will be joined by the series' new letterer, Rachael Luke Privett of Norman. Digital artist Cole Johnson, originally of Oklahoma City, completes the team.

Three issues of “Welcome to Ralton” have been released, with the fourth issue set for May. The story is a fantasy set in the modern era. In the series, Reno Sanders meets a devil-man of local legend, but rather than finding this unusual being to be the bogeyman, Reno and Mangus instead become close friends.

“I do my best to make each individual issue accessible to new readers, so anyone can jump on at any point without much catching up to do,” Rosencrans said. He describes the comic as similar to a sitcom, “think ‘Full House' directed by Rob Zombie.”

Rosencrans described the working process on “Ralton.”

“I basically do the story and art and do my best to have it all completed before I get with Cole to get all the toning/texturing done,” Rosencrans said. “He's able to do so much to add to it, as well as making it truly come to life.”
