IRVING, Texas — In February, Colleyville (Texas) Heritage quarterback Cody Thomas plans on signing with Oklahoma.

He picked the Sooners over a group of offers that included Alabama, Florida, LSU, Notre Dame and USC.

There will come a time though, months after signing day, when Thomas will have an even bigger decision to make.

Thomas, the outfielder, is expected to be a high pick in next summer's Major League Baseball Draft.

For now, though, Thomas is just enjoying the ride.

“Either way, I'll be happy,” Thomas said earlier this month after his team beat Irving MacArthur 56-47. “I love them equally as much. I just can't decide which one right now. That's for later down the road.”

The Sooners have been down this road before, with Broken Arrow's Archie Bradley.

Bradley officially signed with the Sooners to play baseball, but intended to play football as well.

But Bradley wound up being drafted No. 7 overall by Arizona and never made it to Norman, choosing instead to pursue a baseball career.

There's plenty of reasons why Thomas is worth any risk, though.

The Sooners have quarterbacks Blake Bell, Drew Allen, Kendal Thompson and Trevor Knight already on the roster beyond this season.

Against Irving MacArthur, Thomas showed several more reasons why he's worth the risk, flashing his arm strength while also showing an unflappable demeanor.
