Bat weekend at Alabaster

Alabaster Caverns State Park is holding a “Bat Wing-Ding” for families on April 12-13.

Games, exhibits, program and discussions about bats highlight the two-day event near Freedom.

Visitors can join wildlife professionals to search for bats in the cavern. The event is free to the public.

Hybrid record on Carl Blackwell

Tom Pace of Stillwater caught a 9.5-pound striped bass hybrid from Lake Carl Blackwell in Stillwater on Tuesday that is the new lake record.

Pace caught the fish using an ultra-lite rod which emptied his spool during a 10-minute battle.

Other lake records set last week included a 3.3-pound crappie at Grand Lake and 3.8 pound spotted bass from Grand.

Bow Fishing Tournament on Table Rock

Table Rock Lake near Springfield, Mo., will be the site April 6-7 of the first annual U.S. Bow Fishing Championships.

Based out of Long Creek Marina, prizes will include a new boat, bow and cash. Sponsored by Bass Pro Shops, visit www.basspro.com/usopen for more information.
