Whetsel said Slaton spotted deputies and called a friend to get a ride, escaping the area. He was later found and arrested. Deputies continued investigating, serving search warrants on homes in Del City, Oklahoma City and the Deer Creek area.

They found items from at least nine burglaries in the Deer Creek area, along with methamphetamine and burglary tools.

Others arrested in the case include Marshawn Cherry, 21, Amie Scott, 33, and Glenn Huckabee, 41.

Whetsel said investigators were trying to find three others they believe were involved in the case and were looking into whether the group was responsible for other unsolved burglaries in the metro area.

“There are going to be a lot more burglaries involved here,” Whetsel said. “The ones we know about may be just the tip of the iceberg.”

Whetsel said the bust is especially satisfying for deputies because burglaries often go unsolved.

“There are so many burglaries that occur, unless you drive up on one or have physical evidence at the scene, it's tough,” Whetsel said. “Fortunately we had both in this case.”
