Two charged

in woman's death

Two men arrested in the shooting death of a woman in northwest Oklahoma City were charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with first-degree murder, records show. Brian Joe Cook, 32, and Brandon S. Bates, 26, were arrested Oct. 7 at a house in Moore on murder complaints in the death of Lorinda Frans, 51. Frans and her husband were walking to their car about 9 p.m. Oct. 5 at 1624 NW 15 when they apparently startled two men who were near the vehicle, and at least one of them fired shots. Frans was hit and was taken to a hospital where she died. Bates and Cook are being held without bail in Oklahoma County jail.
