Two men face charges

in slaying at gas station

Two men will face trial in a gas station shooting that left one man dead and another man wounded, a judge ruled Friday. Joe Lee Jackson Jr., 34, and Richard Deuntay Jackson, 20, are charged with first-degree murder in the May 13 death of Aaron Lawayne Hishaw, 29, of Oklahoma City. The shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. at Murphy's Gas Station, Interstate 240 and Santa Fe Avenue. Witnesses told investigators Joe Jackson shot Hishaw and another man while the victims were standing and when they were on the ground. Both defendants also are charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Girl, 15, runs away again; man charged in incident

A man accused of harboring a 15-year-old runaway was charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with a misdemeanor, court records show. Prosecutors allege Brian Keith Stevens, 32, of Oklahoma City, allowed the girl to stay at his residence while she was a runaway. The girl's father reported her missing in December, records show. She was taken into custody in January at a residence in the 300 block of SE 17, where the defendant's parents live, police reported. Last month, the girl's father told police his daughter had left again and told her mother that she “was going to be with the defendant,” a detective wrote in a probable cause affidavit.
