5 charged in home invasion attack

Five people accused in a recent home invasion attack — including one who was shot — were charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with first-degree burglary, court records show. Michael T. Renville, Donald E. Carmon, Roxann M. Velez, Amber L. Mills and Steven L. Carmon are accused of breaking into a home in the 1500 block of SE 45 on Jan. 18. A resident told police three males and two females forced their way in about 8:30 p.m. and assaulted her and another person, according to a probable cause affidavit. She retrieved a handgun and fired one shot, striking one of the males in the chest, police reported.

Foul play eyed in woman's death

— Investigators suspect foul play in the death of a woman found on her living room floor after she spent most of the day at a casino in nearby Pocola. Police say the husband of Sakounswk Vilayhong, 50, found his wife Thursday afternoon when he returned home from work. Authorities say they think Vilayhong left the casino shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday. Police say her husband found her about two hours later. Anyone with information is asked to call Fort Smith police.
