A death row inmate convicted of killing three women was found dead in his Oklahoma State Penitentiary cell Monday morning, authorities said.

William Eugene Davis' cellmate tried waking him for breakfast about 6:35 a.m., but Davis was unresponsive, penitentiary officials said. No foul play was indicated at the scene, but the death will be investigated.

Davis was convicted on three counts of first-degree murder in the Sept. 4, 2007, shooting deaths of his sisters, Tami Link, 52, and Sheila Ellis, 54, and Link's mother-in-law, Letannah Bishop, 87.

Davis was subdued at the scene by his legally blind brother-in-law, Brent Link, who disarmed and severely beat Davis after the shootings.

Davis was found guilty by a jury in Cleveland County in February 2010. The jury recommended a death sentence, and Davis was sentenced to death by lethal injection by District Judge Lori Walkley the following month.
