Colleges recognized for trees

The Arbor Day Foundation has named six Oklahoma colleges and universities as Tree Campus USA sites.

The honorees are Oklahoma City Community College, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City University, the Tahlequah campus of Northeastern State University and the northeast campus of Tulsa Community College.

The schools were honored for effective management of campus trees and campuswide conservation efforts. The program has five standards: a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, annual funding for trees, an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning projects.
