Teacher recruitment fair today
The Oklahoma City Public Schools will host a teacher recruitment fair at 5 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. Grant High School, 5016 S Pennsylvania. Teachers needed for all age groups. Special education teachers are especially needed. The district will do interviews in person and via Skype. Principals from all school sites will be at the event. State PTA hosts day at Capitol
The Oklahoma PTA will host its annual Day at the Capitol on Tuesday. The group plans to introduce a legislative caucus. Activities include training and legislator visits beginning at 9 a.m. A rally is set for 1:30 p.m. on the north steps. Speakers include state schools Superintendent Janet Barresi, lawmakers and education advocates. The event is open to families and residents, and PTA membership is not required. OMRF offers teen program
Applications are available for a new Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation leadership program for high school students called Teen Leaders in Philanthropy. Students will meet philanthropic leaders and learn how nonprofit organizations affect their communities. The group will meet monthly September through May 2014. The program is open to Oklahoma students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors in the 2013-14 school year. No more than three students from the same school will be admitted the same year.
