Oklahoma elections: John Doak takes big win in GOP runoff for insurance commissioner

Doak had 71 percent of the vote to Crawford's 29 percent in the only statewide race on the ballot.

Doak, 47, of Tulsa, will face Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland in the Nov. 2 general election. He wasted no time kicking off his next campaign, declaring Tuesday's victory "halftime" of the election process.

"There are a number of issues where are there are very, very broad differences between Holland and I," Doak said. "I feel like I represent more Oklahoma common values than Holland."

Crawford, 78, of Oklahoma City, declined to comment on whether he will endorse Doak in the general election.

"I'm proud that we ran a clean race and we stayed with the things we considered most important," he said.

Doak heavily outspent Crawford during the campaign. Doak raised $281,600, which included $163,500 he loaned to his campaign. Crawford's campaign war chest totaled $36,700, including $20,000 he loaned to the effort.
