With all 29 of the district's precincts reporting, returns showed Darry Stacy, a Norman Police Department captain and member of the Norman School Board, a clear winner for the District 2 seat being vacated by longtime office holder George Skinner.
Stacy, 44, garnered 2,557, or 59 percent of the votes cast in the three-way race. Terrill, 42, received 1,307 votes, or 30 percent of the total. David Houck, 52, a homebuilder, real estate investor and peach orchard farmer, came in a distant third with 470 votes, or 11 percent of the total.
Throughout the campaign, Terrill maintained the bribery charges are an attack by his political enemies. He called them “unfounded.”
All three commissioner candidates are Republicans, so Stacy will take over the office since no Democrats filed for the post.
In other balloting, Cleveland County Clerk Tammy Howard, 44, of Noble, beat opponent David Scroggins, 43, of Oklahoma City, in her race to win a second term.
