Democratic District 1 county commissioner candidates Curtis Barnes and Kellis Pierce each received 178 votes Tuesday.
The candidates have 10 days to ask for a recount and if a recount shows a tie, the nominee will be chosen in a drawing, Nowata County Election Board volunteer Kenny Freeman said.
"It shows you the importance of just one vote," Freeman said.
The winner will face Republican Jerry Williams in the general election.
