Democratic District 1 county commissioner candidates Curtis Barnes and Kellis Pierce each received 178 votes Tuesday.

The candidates have 10 days to ask for a recount and if a recount shows a tie, the nominee will be chosen in a drawing, Nowata County Election Board volunteer Kenny Freeman said.
