Gallery celebrates solstice

Fringe, an Oklahoma City organization for female artists, is celebrating the solstice at Istvan Gallery with the art of Mary James Ketch, Sarah Day-Short, Jessica Craddock and Lindsey Bochniak in a group show.

The show will be up through Saturday, with a closing reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. The closing reception is called “Fire and Ice Cream” to celebrate the work in the show and a summer of art. Hot dogs and ice cream will be available from Mara’s Catering. There will be music, live glass blowing and other entertainment. There also will be tarot card readings.

For more information, call 831-2874 or go to istvangallery.com.

Paint program taking applications

Keep Oklahoma Beautiful is accepting applications for its Fresh Paint Days program until July 31. Selected participants will restore the exterior of a structure in their community during September with the use of paint, donated by H.I.S. Coatings of Oklahoma City, along with a monetary stipend and a lot of elbow grease by willing volunteers. Keep Oklahoma Beautiful will deliver the paint within a reasonable driving distance.

Applications are accepted online. The application, project requirements, a tentative event calendar and more are at keepoklahomabeautiful.com/fresh-paint-days.
