Oklahoma finally steps up to a table where it can beat Texas

RED RIVER RIVALRY AS TEXAS HOLD'EM — When Oklahoma and Texas square off in the boardroom, DeLoss Dodds and the Longhorns seem to hold all the cards. But Saturday in the Cotton Bowl, the Sooners finally step up to a table where they win.

With Mizzou packing its bags, the Big 12 announced Thursday that Texas was backing down on showing high school content on The Longhorn Network.

A rare victory for the Sooners, but the impression is that Missouri, not the Schooner, stared down Bevo.

Boren once was chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. He's been around a few boardrooms.

But figuring out how to spend money to take down the Soviet Union is one thing. Looking across the table from DeLoss Dodds quite another.

So the Sooners are glad to get away from Texas Hold ‘Em. They don't want another hand. They're glad to get to another pastime, where their chances against Bevo are much greater. Charming the saloon girls or a Long Branch barfight or a Front Street shootout.

Get to the Cotton Bowl, where OU knows it holds cards like Kenny Stills and Tony Jefferson and Gabe Ikard and Frank Alexander and Landry Jones and Demontre Hurst and Ryan Broyles.

Get to the Cotton Bowl, where is played a game OU can win.
