NORMAN — Tickets are on sale for the Norman Ballet Company 's 2013 production of “The Oklahoma Nutcracker,” set for 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Nancy O'Brian Center for the Performing Arts. The ballet uses historical Oklahoma characters and themes of nature, brought to life through the traditional “Nutcracker” story and Tchaikovsky score. Tickets are $20, and all seats are reserved. One block of seating is available at a family rate of four tickets for $60. Preperformance activities include the Sand Plum Fairy Tea Party at 1 p.m. in the Studio Theater. ‘Carousel' at OU
NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma University Theatre will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Carousel,” opening at 8 p.m. Friday in the Weitzenhoffer Theatre, 563 Elm. Performances continue at 8 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 7, 8, and 9, and at 3 p.m. Saturday and Nov. 3, 9 and 10. Shawn Churchman is the director, Harold Mortimer is music director and David Scotchford is guest choreographer.

Students of the Thelma Gaylord Academy, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's arts education branch, will present “Godspell Jr.” Nov. 7-9 at Plaza Theatre, 1725 NW 16. The show will feature second- through 12th-graders.
“These students have been working nonstop since August,” Stephen Hilton, Lyric's director of education, said in a news release. “They have created some very special and moving moments, which I urge patrons not to miss.”

‘Figures of Speech'

Four artists featured
Rory McCallister, former firefighter-turned-glass-sculptor, will be one of four artists featured at Istvan Gallery's seventh anniversary show opening Nov. 8. McCallister, who served as a firefighter for 32 years, began working with blown glass in 1998. Other artists featured for the show are Jesse Whittle, Josh Heilaman and Tammy Brummel. The November art installation will open with an artists' reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 8. Visitors can also observe glass blowing demonstrations by artists at Blue Sage Studio.
