Oklahoma firefighter, police officer accused of possessing unregistered AK-47 machine gun

Blackwell police officer John Robert Harvey also is charged in the case.

Federal prosecutors said Troy Ron Aebischer, 30, sold the gun Feb. 28 to Blackwell police officer Bobby Kehn, who had contacted the department's chief when Aebischer initially offered him the weapon.

Prosecutors said Harvey, 26, brought the weapon into the country illegally from Afghanistan during a recent “military deployment.”

Records show he sold the weapon to Aebischer on Feb. 17.

Aebischer and Kehn, who knew each other before the transaction, took the weapon to some kind of gun range near Blackwell and fired it before the deal was made.

Court records show that Aebischer has a federal firearms license and that he sold guns out of his home in Blackwell, which is in Kay County.

During an interview with investigators, Harvey explained how he obtained the weapon from an “interpreter who had been assigned to his unit,” ATF task force officer Pablo Pinzon wrote in a complaint filed Monday in federal court.
