The state Health Department did not report any additional flu deaths in its weekly report about flu activity in Oklahoma. So far, eight residents have died because of flu-related complications.

The agency has reported 484 flu-related hospitalizations since Sept. 30, the start of the 2012-13 flu season.

Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports high flu activity across most of the United States.

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness. Children and adults older than 65 are most susceptible to developing serious flu-related complications.

Public health officials say it's not too late to get the flu shot.

Most of Oklahoma's county health departments and some pharmacies offer the shot and at a reduced price for some lower-income people.
