Pork Council will serve up Bacon and Bourbon Dinner on Friday

The Oklahoma Pork Council will present a Bacon and Bourbon Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Waterford Marriott, 6300 Waterford Blvd.

A five-course meal developed by chef John Wheeler will be paired with bourbons supplied by Republic Beverage.

The first course is bacon-wrapped shrimp and pork belly skewers with Booker glaze. Next is micro green salad with Gorgonzola bacon rings and Jim Beam Honey Tea vinaigrette. Soup course is a Knob Creek Single Barrel pumpkin and pork belly stew. Main course is bacon pesto-crusted pork tenderloin with Basil Hayden reduction served with garlic herb polenta and Parmesan and bacon-crusted asparagus. For dessert is chocolate, bacon and berry cake with chocolate Jim Beam Devils Cut sauce. Cost is $100. For tickets, call 232-3781.

Food Festival returns to St. Elijah

St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 N May Ave., will host its annual food festival and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The event includes a bake sale and Lebanese feast for dine-in or carryout. Available foods include Cabbage Rolls, Kafta Sandwich, Mediterranean Chicken Kafta Sandwich, Rice Pilaf with Green Beans and Meat Sauce, Talami, Sfeeha meat pies, Mediterranean Sundae, Tabbouleh, Lebanese Salad, Hummus and Pita Bread and Baklawa.

The St. Elijah Culinary Cupboard will offer homemade entrees and desserts to serve to your family and friends or to give as holiday gifts, including assorted Lebanese pastries, pies and cakes, dinner rolls, hummus, cinnamon rolls, cookies and brownies.

Harley's Cafe in Choctaw will be featured on Food Network

The new Food Network series “Health Inspectors” will air an episode, which was filmed in Choctaw, at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 9. The episode, “Slugs in the Walk-in,” focuses on Harley's Cafe as it prepares for a health inspection.
