Calling all Chocolatiers

— The Firehouse Art Center has issued a call for entries for the annual Chocolate Festival, set for Feb. 2 at the National Center for Employee Development, also known as the U.S. Postal Training Center, at 2801 State Highway 9E.

Local chefs, restaurateurs and chocolate artists are invited to participate in the event that raises money for children's art education. Vendor applications will be accepted until Nov. 30 and can be downloaded at

Hensley's plans wine dinner

— Hensley's Top Shelf Grill, 1551 Garth Brooks Blvd., will host an Anitori Wine Dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday. Chef David Sullivan will offer hors d'oeuvres and sparkling wine during the reception.

Chandler's Butcher BBQ wins big in Las Vegas

— The World Food Championships, hosted by Adam Richman on Nov. 3, crowned Butcher BBQ of Chandler as the first-ever World Barbecue Champion.

Butcher BBQ received a grand prize of $10,000 and earned one of seven seats at the Final Table showdown on Nov. 4, where it placed fourth overall, and took home an additional $2,500.

Butcher BBQ was one of nearly 300 culinary competitors in the inaugural World Food Championships held at Bally's Las Vegas before culminating at Caesars Palace on the final day.

The seven categories included barbecue, chili, burger, sandwich, side-dish, an online recipe and a World Chef Challenge open to some of the best chefs in America's greatest restaurants.

A combination of Butcher BBQ's beef brisket, pork shoulder, pork ribs and sauce positioned them at the top of its category.
