March of Dimes
The Oklahoma Pork Council (okPORK) has joined forces with March of Dimes to host a culinary pork competition at Taste of Elegance on Aug. 19.
Oklahoma’s top chefs will bring innovative pork masterpieces to the competition and public tasting at Remington Park starting at 6:30 p.m. Up to 12 Oklahoma chefs will compete in this event, which includes a professional blind judging of the dishes, where each dish will be evaluated on its taste, appearance and originality.
Attendees can sample each of the pork dishes and then nominate their favorite pork creation to win the People’s Choice Award.
March of Dimes is the event beneficiary this year.
The March of Dimes is a national health organization dedicated to helping moms have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. The mission is to improve the health of babies by working to prevent birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Its mission is carried out through programs of research, education and advocacy.

Food truck festival
planned at Airpark
The Skyline Food Truck Festival is scheduled for Aug. 23 at the OKC Downtown Airpark, 1701 S Western Ave. The festival will feature more than 30 local food trucks and a car show, starting at 9 a.m. Activities starting at 11 a.m. will include a kiddie park, a market of local merchants, silent auction and live local music on multiple stages throughout the day.
The event benefits the Red Dirt Relief Fund, which provides a safety net of critical assistance for Oklahoma music people in times of need.
There is no cost to attend other than a $10 parking fee per car inside the park. VIP tickets are available at an additional price, which includes access to VIP table and chairs, VIP tent and deck, name to be entered into a VIP drawing, event T-shirt and koozie and more.
Performing musicians include Chad Sullins and the Last Call Coalition, the Hosty Duo, Evin Brady, Aaron Newman and the OK Caravan, The Purdy Boys, Ben Brock, 2 AM, Lower 40, Trading Co., Chase Sanford Band and Cody Russ.

Beer dinner at Hensley’s
YUKON — Hensley’s Top Shelf Grill, 1551 Garth Brooks Blvd., will host a Bridgeport Beer Dinner at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Chef David Sullivan’s special menu begins with a reception serving Pan-Fried Alligator Cakes with Lemongrass Aioli paired with Bridgeport Trilogy 1. Dinner begins with Organic Arugula Salad with Peppered Applewood Bacon, red onion and a Poblano-Lime Vinaigrette paired Bridgeport Kingpin. Main course is Pecan-smoked Pork Shoulder over Sharp Cheddar Grits with Roasted Garlic Braised Kale and a Chipotle-Pinot Reduction served with Bridgeport Hop Czar. For dessert is Dark Chocolate and Peach Mousse Torte with Caramel Syrup and Candied Pecans paired with Bridgeport IPA.
