Oklahoma football: Bob Stoops planning redshirt talks Monday

Running back Daniel Brooks, who committed to OU in March 2011 but suffered a knee injury during his senior year of high school, is still recovering and will definitely redshirt. Quarterback Trevor Knight, who is from San Antonio, is a likely candidate to redshirt because of the depth at his position.

Many other freshmen, though, are tough to predict. In the cases of defensive ends, offensive linemen and receivers, freshmen may be needed to provide depth.

“I keep saying it; I want to play them all, whenever they are able to,” Stoops said. “That is a really good class and most of them are ready to play.”

HURST SAYS SIMON ‘IN THE MIX' AT CB

Senior cornerback Demontre Hurst doesn't think a depth chart for the defensive backfield has been finalized, but that true freshman Gary Simon was impressive through fall camp.

Unlike many other incoming freshmen, Simon didn't join the team for summer workouts, which put him a little behind initially, Hurst said.

“Overall, on the field, he's being real productive,” Hurst said. “I'm coaching him up, one-on-one, trying to get him to get confident, and learn schemes.
