Oklahoma football: Checking in with former Sooners in the NFL

Pos. Player (NFL team)

DE Frank Alexander (Carolina): Backup defensive end, a fourth-round pick last year, played in all 16 games as a rookie (18 tackles, 2.5 sacks).

QB Sam Bradford (St. Louis): Threw for 3,702 yards, 21 TDs, 13 interceptions with a solid 82.6 quarterback rating his third NFL season.

WR Justin Brown (Pittsburgh): Sixth-round draft pick who made an impact after transferring from Penn State; made the Steelers' practice squad.

WR Ryan Broyles (Detroit): Suffered a torn ACL for the second straight year but showed in preseason he can be the Lions No. 3 receiver.

SS Quinton Carter (Denver): Started 10 games as a rookie in 2011 but a knee injury limited him to three games last season; on injured reserve.

C Chris Chester (Washington): Former second round pick has started all 33 games with Redskins after starting 47 games in five seasons in Baltimore.

CB Jamell Fleming (Arizona): Recorded 23 tackles in 15 games in a backup role (three starts) his rookie season.

CB Dominique Franks (Atlanta): The Falcons' fifth cornerback played in all 16 games, primarily playing on special teams for an NFC contender.

TE Jermaine Gresham (Cincinnati): Developing into one of the AFC's top tight ends (172 catches, 1,804 yards, 15 TDs first three seasons).

CB Demontre Hurst (Chicago): After starting every game his final two years at OU, Hurst made the practice squad as undrafted free agent.

SS Tony Jefferson (Arizona): Leaving a year early, two-interception preseason game against Dallas helped undrafted free agent make the roster.

OT Lane Johnson (Philadelphia): Former juco QB made a quantum leap; selected fourth overall, Johnson is projected as an anchor on the Eagles' O-line.

QB Landry Jones (Pittsburgh): Fourth-round pick threw two TDs, three interceptions in preseason; third team behind Roethlisberger and Gradkowski.

OG Davin Joseph (Tampa Bay): Former first-round pick, selected 23rd overall, the right guard has made 83 career starts the past six seasons.

OT Phil Loadholt (Minnesota): The Vikings' starting right tackle, selected 54th overall four years ago, has started 63 of 64 games.

LB Travis Lewis (Detroit): A seventh-round pick, backup middle linebacker appeared in 13 games, recording three tackles as a rookie.

LB Curtis Lofton (New Orleans): Ranks among NFL leaders with 521 tackles the past four seasons, including 123 his first year with the Saints.

DT Gerald McCoy (Tampa Bay): Healthy an entire season for the first time, the third overall pick in the 2010 draft was named to his first Pro Bowl.

DT Stacy McGee (Oakland): Sixth round pick was suspended seven games his senior year; made the Raiders' 53-man roster.
