NORMAN — Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops joined ESPN’s SportsCenter on Tuesday to discuss Monday’s devastating tornado, which ripped through Moore, destroying several homes and killing dozens of people.

Stoops lives in north Norman, just south of Moore, and said his family could see the tornado through their back window.

“It crossed over just north of us and just about a mile from our home,” said Stoops, who was working at the OU football offices during the storm.

Stoops said, to his knowledge, none of his players or their families were affected by the tornado, but that two assistants — one graduate assistant and one strength coach — lost their homes.

“Just thinking of all these, so, so many families that are devastated,” Stoops said. “This will be a long-term effort to get everyone back on their feet.”
