— David King and Oklahoma's defense allowed West Virginia to compile 778 total yards of offense; 458 of those were rushing yards. The Sooners allowed one guy, WVU's Tavon Austin, to rush for 345 yards that helped him set a Big 12 record for most all-purpose yards in a single game. King called the performance an embarrassment.

Q: What changed? It was 31-17 at the half.

A: Right there, the crowd got back in it and they got right back into it.

What happened with Tavon Austin and the defense?

Embarrassing. It's two weeks in a row we've been exposed by high-powered offenses. It's all out there on tape now so OSU's going to come in and try to expose us again for a third week. Something's got to change. We're just playing bad football defensively. Thanks to the offense for saving us tonight. The game shouldn't have been as close as it was. Credit to West Virginia, but I don't know what's wrong with our defense right now. We can't make any plays. Can't get any pressure on the quarterback. Can't tackle. It was just all-out poor defense.

Some of those runs he had huge gaps to run in. How do you turn this around?

Long runs should be credited to us being in the wrong gaps. He saw the wide-open gap a couple times. We have to do a better job of fitting in our gaps. ... Something's got to change. You've got to come in Monday with a new attitude. We're happy we won. I won't take that away. Defense wise it's embarrassing and poor. That's not how we want to be remembered, especially with next week being the last game at home for a bunch of seniors. We don't want to go out like that so we just got to come Monday with a whole new attitude about everything.
