NORMAN — Three-star defensive tackle Du’Vonta Lampkin committed to Texas on Monday afternoon, completing a 180-degree Red River flip for the former Oklahoma commit.
Lampkin, ranked as the 21st-best defensive tackle in the country, committed to the Sooners last November, but opened his recruitment back up in late April.
He had an official visits to Austin and Norman for Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, respectively, and had previously indicated he would make a final commitment after those trips. But after Lampkin took an unofficial visit to LSU — the other of his three favorite schools — last weekend, he apparently decided he didn’t need any more visits to make a decision.
Lampkin had previously seen the Oklahoma and Texas campuses on unofficial visits.
The 6-foot-4, 306-pound defensive tackle is from Houston’s Cypress Falls High School.
