“Saturday, Oklahoma definitely made a statement about its legitimacy in several areas. Defensively, the Sooners allowed a couple big plays but set the tone for the entire game with back-to-back interceptions on Notre Dame's first two possessions. Blake Bell showed remarkable poise and efficiency that you might not expect from a quarterback starting his first road game. With Oklahoma State's loss Saturday, the Big 12 schedule looks even less impressive, so a big win on the road against a very good team definitely puts Oklahoma in a good position moving forward.”

RYAN ABER, OU BEAT WRITER

“It's short of legendary but it's definitely a statement win. Perception around the country is that the Sooners have slipped in recent years. This is the kind of win that turns that around. Notre Dame isn't as good as they were a year ago when they played for the national title but the Irish are still a very good team and a win like this elevates Oklahoma in a way that no Big 12 win would this season.”
