Oklahoma football: How OU's last five recruiting classes have fared at offensive line

In Oklahoma's past five recruiting classes, it has signed 19 offensive guards, centers and tackles, and three players who would eventually be converted into offensive linemen.

*Adam Shead: Entered the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman last season after Ben Habern's injury caused shifting on the line. After Habern decided to end his career during the preseason, Shead moved back into the lineup.

*Tyrus Thompson: Redshirted as a freshman and saw action as a backup in five games last season. Lost preseason competition to Lane Johnson for left tackle start, but seems to have a bright future.

*Daryl Williams: Redshirted, then appeared in nine games during freshman season last year. The sophomore is currently OU's starter at right tackle.

*Austin Woods: Became deep snapper for place kicks as a true freshman, and the junior still holds the position. Was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma during the last offseason and is almost finished with chemotherapy treatments. Provides depth at both center and guard positions.

Dylan Dismuke: Duncan native redshirted as a freshman, then suffered a catastrophic knee injury during bowl practices last December. Was forced to give up the game and is now on medical hardship.

*Derek Farniok: Farniok is a huge tackle (6-foot-9, 319 pounds), but the redshirt freshman is still a work in progress. He's backing up Williams at right tackle.

^*Nathan Hughes: Four-star defensive end prospect redshirted as a freshman and was moved to offensive line during fall camp.

*Nila Kasitati: Redshirted as a freshman but has gotten some playing time this season as a reserve guard. Kasitati had surgery for a heart condition during the preseason, but he is apparently fine now and seems to have a bright future.

*Ty Darlington: Among the most praised members of this year's true freshman class, Darlington got his first shot at playing time in last week's rout of Florida A&M. He's currently listed as Gabe Ikard's backup at center.

*Kyle Marrs: Currently a tackle, but could move inside to guard if needed. Likely redshirting this season.

John Michael McGee: Big, talented guard only lasted a few fall practices before deciding he didn't want to play football anymore.

Will Latu: Junior-college transfer tackle couldn't get academically qualified in time, and is now at Arkansas State.
