Oklahoma picked up its first defensive tackle commitment of the 2014 class Friday when Irving (Texas) Ranchview's Brandon Glenn committed to the Sooners.

Glenn (6-foot-3, 274 pounds) made his commitment during a visit to Norman. He visited Norman for a camp recently and received the offer after he returned home.

Glenn, who plays defensive end at Ranchview, had offers from Houston, Kansas State and North Texas and also chose the Sooners over Texas Tech.

The commitment is also the first for first-year Sooners defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery.

Montgomery joined Oklahoma's staff after two years at Michigan.

Glenn is the Sooners' ninth commitment of the 2013 and the fourth from Texas.

He joins Cedar Hill defensive back Marcus Green, Lancaster defensive back Vontre McQuinnie and Pflugerville Hendrickson running back Samaje Perine as Texas commitments for the Sooners.

The commitment is nonbinding. Recruits from the 2014 class can sign beginning Feb. 5.
