The 6-foot-2-inch 198-pound junior wide receiver was among those Sooners who took part in Oklahoma's first spring practice. He said he feels good about his fitness and the injury he suffered against Oklahoma State last season shouldn't hinder his performance during spring workouts — mentally or physically. That's good news for Stoops and his staff.

Reynolds received a breakout season in 2011. Jaz's hands caught 41 passes for 715 yards — an average of 17.4 yards per catch — with five touchdowns. He sat down recently to reflect on the injury and his “Jaz hands” nickname.

How is your kidney?

It hasn't really changed anything about my game. I try to put it in the back of my mind because I don't want to go out there and half step because I feel like I'm going to get hit again. I'm actually playing a little bit harder because I know it's there. If I get hurt again, then I know it was meant to be that I'm not supposed to be out there playing. It's really got me out there playing harder.
