NORMAN — OU freshman Joe Mixon quietly reactivated his Twitter account Monday evening — hours after being arraigned on a misdemeanor charge — then broke his silence Tuesday afternoon.
“Comeback Season In The Work But Now I’m Thinking Bigger,” Mixon tweeted, quoting lyrics from a Drake song.
The former five-star prospect was suspended from football for one year shortly after his arraignment on the charge stemming from an early-morning altercation with 20-year-old Amelia Rae Molitor on July 25 at Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe.
After the altercation, Mixon deactivated his Twitter account.
The Oakley, Calif., native used the social media account heavily throughout his recruitment, retweeting virtually anything any college football fan said about him.
Mixon committed to Oklahoma during January’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio. He was the crown jewel of the Sooners’ 2014 signing class and was expected to immediately compete for playing time in Oklahoma’s inexperienced backfield.
