While OSU's wins in 2001 and 2002 were upsets, a Cowboys win Saturday would not be.
After returning last season, Stoops said the OSU program is quite different from the one he last coached against at OU.
“Their players play consistent every time they step on the field,” Stoops said. “You're getting a more consistent opponent and a better opponent.”
Stoops has coached in Stillwater since, when Arizona played at OSU in 2011.
OU IN MIXON'S FINAL FOUR
Over the weekend, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops flew to California FOR an in-home visit with five-star running back Joe Mixon of Oakley (Calif.) Freedom.
Stoops' efforts have paid off for now, with Mixon placing the Sooners in his final four choices, he tweeted on Tuesday.
Oklahoma is joined by UCLA, California and Wisconsin in Mixon's final four.
Mixon (6-foot-2, 207 pounds) is the top-ranked running back in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 9 player overall.
Mixon made a visit to Norman in early October. He also took official visits to California, Florida State, Wisconsin and Washington.
Mixon said Monday that USC was back in consideration after the Trojans hired Washington coach Steve Sarkisian.
The last five-star running back to sign with the Sooners was Brandon Williams, Williams transferred to Texas A&M for family reasons after one year in Norman.
