Oklahoma football: Keith Ford ready to return

With Damien Williams' recent dismissal from the team, freshman running back Keith Ford likely would've seen more action over the past two games had he not been injured.

Instead, Brennan Clay and Roy Finch were asked to shoulder the load at running back, and Alex Ross was brought in for a couple short-yardage sets while Ford missed the Iowa State and Kansas State wins after suffering a leg injury on special teams against Baylor.

Sooners co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell said Ford would be ready to go Saturday against Oklahoma State if needed.

“He's fresh and ready to go,” Norvell said. “And we should get some of those fresh legs back for this game. He's been practicing well and hopefully we'll have a fresh body out there Saturday.”

Norvell was less sure of the return of linemen Adam Shead and Tyrus Thompson. Shead missed the Kansas State game with a back injury, while Thompson was hurt early in the second half.

“We hope to get everybody back in place, but we'll see,” Norvell said. “We still have a few days before the game, so hopefully we'll have as many of them as we can.”
