NORMAN — College football fans don’t typically get really excited about kicker commitments.
Kickers also aren’t usually known as big-time smack talkers.
After this weekend, OU kicker commit Austin Seibert has laid waste to both stereotypes.
The Belleville, Ill., prospect — who committed to OU on May 10 — nailed a 66-yard field goal to win a competition at a summer training camp, and the video went viral.
Then Sunday, after apparently getting some social-media grief from Texas fans, Seibert took a shot at the Longhorns, tweeting, “already getting some texas haters on my 66 yard field goal. Im not complaining texas fans cant count to 66 anyways.”
By Monday morning, Seibert had deleted the tweet. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that Jay Boulware — his future position coach and primary recruiter — is a Texas grad.
Still, I think the Tulsa World’s Guerin Emig speaks for the entire OU beat writer contingent with this tweet.
@austinseibert1 Dear Austin, Any way you can enroll at OU, say, tomorrow? Signed, The Beat Writers
