Oklahoma football: Landry Jones will remain as Sooners' starting quarterback

No debate. No discussion. No maybe. Jones will be the Sooners' starter throughout season.

“Yeah; he needs to keep getting the ball more,” Williams said. “Definitely. That's something we want to do.”

He said he expects Williams' carries to increase as the season progresses.

Saturday, Whaley was Oklahoma's leading rusher with 56 yards on nine carries.


Oklahoma's Oct. 6 game at Texas Tech will kick off at 2:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2, the Big 12 Conference announced Monday.

The network designation will be announced at a later date.

The Sooners (2-1 overall, 0-1 Big 12) are entering a bye week following their 24-19 home loss to Kansas State last weekend. Texas Tech opens its conference slate Saturday at Iowa State.


David King on what he'll tell the defense to pull them back together after the loss:

“Are we going to fold? How do you want this season to play out? Because it's really on us. The coaches can only do so much. They're not out there playing. It's us, the 11 guys on defense.

“What are we going to do? How are we going to respond to being hit in the face? Are we going to just sit there and take it and continue to lose to Tech and Texas and Notre Dame coming up? Or are we going to come out with a mentality like we have to get ourselves together?”
