Oklahoma football: Little will come easy the rest of the way for Sooners

Aside from Kansas, OU has a stout schedule remaining.

VS. NOTRE DAME, OCT. 27

* Current record: 4-0

* Outlook: The Irish recorded impressive wins against Michigan and Michigan State and could very well be unbeaten by Oct. 27. But Notre Dame's offense hasn't been particularly impressive, and OU losing two home games in the same year is still hard to fathom.

* Early pick: OU 23, Notre Dame 17

AT IOWA STATE, NOV. 3

* Current record: 3-1 (0-1)

* Outlook: It seems Paul Rhoads' team is good for one shocking win a year, and while OU certainly could lose this game, it seems unlikely at this point.

* Early pick: OU 27, Iowa State 14

VS. BAYLOR, NOV. 10

* Current record: (3-1, 0-1)

* Outlook: The Bears' 70-63 loss in a shoot-out with West Virginia is an obvious indication that Art Briles' team can still be an offensive power in the post-Griffin era. But that defense isn't good enough to beat the Sooners in Norman.

* Early pick: OU 42, Baylor 31

AT WEST VIRGINIA, NOV. 17

* Current record: 4-0 (1-0)

* Outlook: West Virginia's defense isn't very good, but its offense is as potent as any in the country. In a game like this, it might come down to which quarterback plays best. Based on what we've seen so far, Geno Smith should win that battle.

* Early pick: West Virginia 42, OU 38

VS. OKLAHOMA STATE, NOV. 24

* Current record: 2-2 (0-1)

* Outlook: No matter which freshman quarterback the Cowboys trot onto Owen Field on Nov. 24, the OSU offense is not to be taken lightly. Still, with the revenge factor and the game being in Norman, OU remains a slight favorite to reclaim Bedlam supremacy — for now.

* Early pick: OU 28, OSU 24

AT TCU, DEC. 1

* Current record: 4-0 (1-0)

* Outlook: TCU has underwhelmed offensively so far and lost its starting running back for the season. The Horned Frogs have as tough a season-ending schedule as anyone in the conference, and OU remains the more talented team.

* Early pick: OU 26, TCU 21
