NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma announced that its annual Meet the Sooners Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, inside Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

The free event kicks off preseason practices for the Sooners, who are considered a strong national championship contender entering the 2014 season.

As OU has done the past few years, the event will only be offered for children ages 14 and younger. Each kid can be accompanied by one adult, but adults won’t be able to submit items for autographs. Every child can bring one item to be signed.

A line for the general public will form at Gate 5 beginning at 7 a.m.

Check in for pre-registered Sooner Jr. Kids Club members begins at 7 a.m. at Gate 7.

The Kids Club autograph session will begin at 10 a.m. — 30 minutes before the general public’s session.

Concession stands will not be open, and other than bottled water, patrons won’t be allowed to bring outside food and drinks into the stadium.
