Oklahoma football notebook: Aaron Colvin excited about return to cornerback

Oklahoma junior Aaron Colvin missed the entire spring with a shoulder injury, and, during his time off, he made another position change. Colvin will return to cornerback after starting last season at strong safety.

Colvin will return to cornerback after starting last season at strong safety, and he said he's excited about the switch.

“Corner is natural to me,” Colvin said. “Last year, I was at strong safety, so I was on the wide side of the field. Now I'm at right corner; that's a little bit more on the boundary. There's not as much room, so everything's a little quicker. The ball comes out a little quicker. I've got to be more ready.”

He said he injured the shoulder in last year's season opener against Tulsa and played the entire season with pain.

“It was painful every game, but I just had to fight through it,” he said.

“(Now,) I don't feel like I'm babying it at all. I'm out there and it's moving around perfectly.”

MIKE STOOPS ON DEFENSE'S STRENGTH: ‘ALL 11'

Defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was asked Tuesday what the strength of the Sooners' defense is.

“I think it's all 11,” Stoops said. “That's what I feel our greatest strength is. We're going to have to play as a group. ... They've shown when they play as a group and do the things right, this is a very complete group.”
