Looks like Tennessee and its media won't get the man they deemed a “conquering hero” with Bob Stoops this time around.

Despite peculation around Knoxville media, Oklahoma's football coach said Monday he will remain in Norman.

Stoops is in his 14th year as head coach of the Sooners.

Tennessee fired coach Derek Dooley on Nov. 18 after the program lost to Missouri 51-48 in quadruple overtime.

Dooley's tenure in Knoxville ended just shy of three seasons. He finished as Vols coach with a 15-21 overall record, including a 4-23 mark in the SEC.

The Oklahoman asked Stoops about the recent rumors swirling about him in Tennessee.

“Me? Oh, I didn't know that,” Stoops said. “I like the job I have. No, I love the job I have and the people I work for, so I'll try and keep it another year.”

BEDLAM VIA TWITTER

Soon after Saturday's dramatic and emotional Bedlam finish, players used social media to vent immediate thoughts.

But OSU's Josh Stewart had the most direct comment.

“I refuse to lose another game to OU while I'm at OSU, Believe that … Congrats to OU and all because I'm not a hater … Just know never again And Kenny Stills, OU's outspoken junior wideout, responded.

“…save all that for ur team motivational speech … Makes u look bad when ur wrong.”

Stills briefly cooled the tension minutes later, tweeting at Stewart 'good work last night tho.' But Stewart didn't like the initial (and direct) response.

“…bro don't tweet me, I gave you y'all's props just said it won't happen again … Just being real, so bounce back playa”

The Twitter conversation ended there, neither choosing to take it any further in a public forum.
