Not surprisingly, Sooners coach Bob Stoops downplayed the achievement of passing Barry Switzer for the school record in wins with 158 in Saturday's 41-31 win at Kansas State.

“I don't have time to look at it to be honest with you,” Stoops said. “It's something down the road where I'll reflect back.”

But Stoops' brother, defensive coordinator Mike Stoops, said it was important.

“You compare him to the likes of a (Bud) Wilkinson or a Switzer, you're in a stratosphere that not many people are, and I think just the way he goes about his business is probably the thing that all of us probably enjoy — how steady he is through the good wins and the tough losses. He never really changes his demeanor with the players or coaches and what he expects of us never really changes.”

Stoops' first full-time coaching job came at Kansas State under Bill Snyder.

“There's certainly some irony in coming here where he started,” Mike Stoops said. “It's a pretty special day for him and it's good to get it behind us and move forward.”

OL BATTLES INJURIES

Starting left guard Adam Shead did not play due to a back injury, forcing the Sooners to shift Bronson Irwin to the left side and insert Nila Kasitati into Irwin's spot.

The line was further depleted when left tackle Tyrus Thompson injured his leg early in the second half and Derek Farniok had to come on for the remainder of the game.
