Oklahoma sophomore linebacker Frank Shannon was a full participant in practice Saturday and will play in the Sooners' game Thursday night against Baylor, defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said.
“Frank will play,” Stoops said. “He practiced today, so he's in good shape.”
Shannon left last weekend's win over Texas Tech with an injury and didn't return.
“They initially thought when they took him to the hospital, right away they thought it was a spleen injury,” coach Bob Stoops said Monday. “But that checked out OK. The last I'd heard was a deep tissue bruise.”
Shannon leads Oklahoma with 53 tackles this season.
LIMITING BAYLOR OFFENSIVE SNAPS IS KEY
Mike Stoops said that if his unit is on the field Thursday against Baylor's offense for more than 90 snaps, he doesn't like the Sooners' chances to win.
“You can't win a game, I don't believe, playing Baylor if we've gotta play 90 to 100 snaps,” Stoops said. “That's not a game you want to be in. You hope that your offense can control the football and you can control the game.”
