Oklahoma football notebook: Spring game format set

Oklahoma will stick with a similar spring-game scoring format as last year's, pitting the offense against the defense instead of drafting two separate teams.

Some of OU's 2013 defensive signees said around signing day that the change was imminent. Sophomore defensive end Michael Onuoha had told some of those close to him that he was moving to linebacker, a strong indicator that the 3-4 was coming.

First-year defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery, who was hired in late February, said he was involved in the decision to move Ndulue inside.

“We want to be a four-down; that's who we are,” Montgomery said.

DOUGLASS' CLARK WILL ATTEND SPRING GAME

Four-star Douglass defensive end Deondre Clark, who said he was no longer considering Oklahoma after former assistant coach Jackie Shipp was fired, appears to have softened his stance on the Sooners.

Clark will attend OU's spring game April 13, his mother, Dorshell Clark, told The Oklahoman.

Clark has lots of impressive scholarship offers from around the country, including offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and USC.

Deondre Clark is No. 1 on The Oklahoman's Super 30 recruiting rankings for the 2014 class.
