Oklahoma football notebook: Wind plays factor again

For the second consecutive week, wind played a factor for the Sooners in Saturday's win over Baylor.

Sooners quarterback Landry Jones said it wasn't as bad as the week before at Iowa State, but Saturday's 30 mph winds definitely affected the game — especially on passes and kicks.

Never was it more apparent than on Jones' 35-yard touchdown pass to Justin Brown in the final moments of the first half.

The pass went into the wind, but Brown adjusted, dove behind Baylor cornerback Joe Williams and reached back to haul in the pass.

Jones was more efficient in the two quarters going into the wind, completing 11 of 12 passes for 100 yards. The Sooners threw more and had more passing yardage in the two quarters going with the wind, though, as Jones was 14 of 24 for 177 yards in the second and third quarters.

NEWEST SOONERS COMMIT TAKES IN WIN

Tulsa Washington's Dominique Alexander, who committed to the Sooners this week, was among the visitors in Norman for Saturday's 42-34 win over Baylor.

Now that Alexander appears settled in OU after switching his commitment from Arkansas, the question is where he's used.

He was committed to the Razorbacks as a safety, but could see time at linebacker in Mike Stoops' defense.
