Oklahoma picked up a commitment from Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson running back Samaje Perine on Wednesday afternoon.
Perine (5-foot-11, 233 pounds) is the Sooners' third commitment for the 2014 class. All are from Texas.
The commitment was first reported by OUInsider.com.
Perine's commitment comes a day after he visited the Sooners' practice with his parents.
Perine chose Oklahoma over Alabama and TCU. His other offers included Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Nebraska, Tennessee, Purdue and Houston.
Rivals ranks Perine as the No. 188 overall prospect and the No. 20 running back in next year's class.
Perine tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee in December 2011 and came back to run for 2,017 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior.
Defensive back Vontre McQuinnie of Lancaster, Texas, and wide receiver Armanti Foreman of Texas City are also committed to the Sooners.
Verbal commitments are non-binding. The players may sign in February 2014.
