— Asked whether he could use a two-quarterback system to start the season, Bob Stoops resorted to quoting movie lines from a juvenile comedy.

“What do they say? Never say never and there's always a chance,” Stoops said Tuesday. “Even what's his name in “Dumb and Dumber,” he had a chance. It was one in a million, but he did have a chance.”

The Sooners have used some sort of a two-quarterback system the past two years, with the Belldozer in short-yardage and red-zone situations. Anytime he's been asked about the possibility of playing both Bell and Knight in any significant way, he's had a similar non-answer answer.

Stoops did shoot down reports that Knight had already been named the starter for the Aug. 31 opener against Louisiana-Monroe.

“Of course it isn't true,” he said.

Sources told The Oklahoman on Tuesday that the starting quarterback had not been decided entering the evening practice.
